The nation and the world are watching the effects of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana. On behalf of the Lehigh University Alumni Association, I would like to express our concern for the roughly 1,000 alumni we have in the area, and let them know that there are 80,000 members of the Lehigh alumni around the world who stand with them during this difficult time. We also hear that 22 Lehigh students from the greater Houston area are among those impacted, and that the Dean of Students Office has already reached out to them with help and support.
I would encourage our alumni to reach out to classmates who may have been affected, to share messages of support for those dealing with the effects of this disastrous storm, and to think about how you might contribute to the recovery effort in the way of your choice. As you have surely seen in the news and online, there are many organizations and non-profits at work that you might consider supporting.
We will continue to keep those affected in our thoughts as the effects of the storm linger and recovery begins.
Sincerely,
Patrick Fischer ’97
President, Lehigh University Alumni Association
